Creative ways Seattle retailers get shoppers to look up from their phones

SEATTLE — Puget Sound Business Journal reported that in the new era of mobile, Seattle retailers are having to find new ways to get people who walk into a store to look up from their phone, browse and shop.

That has even started to include decals on the floor that say “look up,” said Justin Hill, a senior principal a MG2’s retail design group.

Hill works with developers and retailers on design and said they are now really having to take into account mobile devices, because it makes shoppers’ fields of vision look downward, not at the merchandise on the shelves.

“Really anywhere from four feet down, you will catch their eye,” he said during the panel. “They have to actually be paying attention to see anything above that.”
